What does a 150 mile bike trip up the coast of Maine, 5 years in college, two years running a studio, and an incredible workshop get you? The determination and skill to start your own business.

 

Jackie Matelski started Toast Ceramics part-time in 2012. After a few months selling at local art and craft events, she decided to act on her urge to do it all. After running Toast Ceramics full time for 5 years, student loans got the best of her and Jackie took on a different job in 2017 and as of now mostly operates Toast on the side.  She hopes to get back to it full time again someday.

 

Toast Ceramics focuses on designing objects that are durable and desirable for everyday use. Attention is paid to the all aspects of each piece - from it's weight in your hands to the way it looks in your dish drainer. Patterns and surface designs are inspired by natural landscapes, flora, and fauna and are reinterpreted with a nod to Scandinavian style.

 

Toast Ceramics is based in Madison, WI. Jackie enjoys investing the time and hard work necessary to bring you heirloom quality objects you deserve.
